We asked Apple for a comment. There is already a warning about resetting the HomePod when using the iOS 13.2 update, and it asks the users who have tried a reset to contact Apple Support. At this time it is not clear how Apple deals with affected speakers for which there is no guarantee.
There is a good chance that a fixed version of the update will be available soon. However, this happens several weeks after Apple released iOS 13.1 (plus a few minor enhancements) to fix a number of bugs in its first mobile software update. It’s clear that things did not go smoothly – the HomePod edition just substantiates that observation.
