HomePod update adds multi-user support and music handoffs

The new software also introduces audio handoffs with iPhones. You can bring your iPhone near to make calls over speakers, listen on the go, or otherwise listen to where you see fit.

Other supplements? You can hear ambient sounds to relax, and use these sounds or music to set sleep timers to help you fall asleep. If you want music to play on your HomePod when the lights come on, you can add music to HomeKit scenes.

The update should be received automatically via the home app on your iPhone. However, you can force it by clicking the house icon in the home app and selecting Software Update. While the upgrade will not make you forget rivals like Amazon’s Echo Studio or Google Home Max, Apple clearly wants to remove some of the hurdles that would prevent you from getting a HomePod.
